About this jar
Made in Canada and proud of it. The words "Canadian Jewel" and "Made in Canada" are embossed right into the glass, a little reminder that this jar has been part of Canadian kitchens for a long time.
Its short, round shape and glass top feel sweet in your hand. Fill it with buttons, sewing notions or a small posy of sweet peas. Keep homemade salves, bath salts or loose tea close by, or set one on a shelf where the light can catch the glass.
Good to know: this is an inset Gem jar, so it won't fit regular or wide mouth lids. It takes its matching vintage glass lid and band, or flat Gem lids and rings. Today ForJars is the only company making new Gem lids and rings, and we also see boxes of Bernardin Gem lids and rings come through our doors.
Pair it with its tall pint sister for a matching set.
Every jar is one of a kind. Once it's gone, we never know if or when we'll see another one.

"Every jar is one of a kind. Once it's gone, we never know if or when we'll see another one. If you're not sure which lid fits, just ask. That's what I'm here for."

We also offer free local pickup at our store in Fort Langley.
Vintage jars are from the 1970s or earlier, with embossed logos and a lot of history. Modern jars are generally made after the 1970s, or are still in production today.
Every jar is checked for chips, cracks and rust, whichever era it's from.
Given their age, we have to assume these jars are used. Some have slight signs of aging, like small scratches in the surface.
Jars like these are perfectly dishwasher safe.
We don't actually give out canning advice because we're jar experts, not canning experts! You can visit FreshPreserving.com or Bernardin.ca. (Fun fact: Bernardin, Ball, Kerr and Golden Harvest are all owned and manufactured by Newell Brands, their parent company.)
No, we don't value or date jars, though we do love to see pictures of your collections. We recommend The Red Book of Fruit Jars by Douglas M. Leybourne Jr. for your jar valuation needs. Keep in mind that collector value and market value can vary wildly.
Keep checking back. We add new treasures every week! Make sure you're signed up for our email list and social media channels, as we often share pre-order opportunities and restock details there.
Sometimes, depending on the size and quality of a collection. Please email us a complete itemized list with plenty of pictures and your asking price.
