About this jar
(Smaller than the rest in both height and body diameter. Bottom is not stippled and reads Number-Letter-443, Hazel Atlas marking is missing.)
Wire Bail Glass Top Jar - Made in the USA Circa 1930s
Extra cute and narrow at 2.5 inches in diameter. We do not have rubber seals to fit this jar yet. They are still perfect for craft supplies or displaying a small collection of items.
"Wheaton" is a manufacturer, but in this case is just a general term we use for a plain vintage wire bail jar. There is no distinct Wheaton markings on the jar, it is totally smooth except for a small set of numbers on the bottom of the jar.
Our vintage jars may have slight rusting in spots where the wire bail sits but are guaranteed free of chips and cracks that affect the performance of the jar. Due to the age of these jars there may be occasional cosmetic chips or very slight "flea bites" in the rim.
Get them while you can, they aren't making any more!
This listing is for the jar as shown, the mason jar plus its lid and wire bail.
Height: 5.25 inches tall with lid on.
Diameter: approx 2.5 inches at the base, lid measures 2.25 inches.
*Note, mouth sizes in Wire Bail Jars are different than screw top lids. They are somewhat standardized but there are variations between brands. See our FAQ's for more details.

"Every jar is one of a kind. Once it's gone, we never know if or when we'll see another one. If you're not sure which lid fits, just ask. That's what I'm here for."

Good to know
Shipping is a flat rate of $20, no matter the size of your order. You'll get the best value by ordering more at one time.
We also offer free local pickup at our store in Fort Langley.
Vintage jars are from the 1970s or earlier, with embossed logos and a lot of history. Modern jars are generally made after the 1970s, or are still in production today.
Every jar is checked for chips, cracks and rust, whichever era it's from.
Given their age, we have to assume these jars are used. Some have slight signs of aging, like small scratches in the surface.
The glass jar and glass lid are dishwasher safe. Take the wire bail off before washing, though. It's mostly zinc, so it will corrode.
We don't actually give out canning advice because we're jar experts, not canning experts! You can visit FreshPreserving.com or Bernardin.ca. (Fun fact: Bernardin, Ball, Kerr and Golden Harvest are all owned and manufactured by Newell Brands, their parent company.)
No, we don't value or date jars, though we do love to see pictures of your collections. We recommend The Red Book of Fruit Jars by Douglas M. Leybourne Jr. for your jar valuation needs. Keep in mind that collector value and market value can vary wildly.
Keep checking back. We add new treasures every week! Make sure you're signed up for our email list and social media channels, as we often share pre-order opportunities and restock details there.
Sometimes, depending on the size and quality of a collection. Please email us a complete itemized list with plenty of pictures and your asking price.
