Canadian Jewel Early 1900s Half Gallon – A True Rarity

A Rare Canadian Treasure

Step back in time with the Canadian Jewel Half Gallon, a truly hard-to-find vintage gem from the early 1900s. Produced exclusively in Canada, Jewel jars are far rarer than their Improved Gem counterparts, making this 1.71L glass beauty a prized piece for collectors and vintage enthusiasts alike.

With its smooth, crystal-clear glass and gracefully embossed script logo, this jar is a stunning addition to any kitchen, pantry, or display. Whether used for bulk storage, dry goods, or as a striking décor piece, the Canadian Jewel Half Gallon is as functional as it is historic.

Why You’ll Love It:

Exceptionally Rare Early 1900s Jar – More elusive than standard Gem jars.
Generous Half-Gallon Capacity – Ideal for storing flour, oats, or heirloom recipes.
Classic Embossed Script Logo – "Canadian Jewel – Made in Canada."
Gem Mouth Versatility – Compatible with vintage and modern gem lids.

For those who appreciate true vintage craftsmanship, the Canadian Jewel Half Gallon is more than a jar—it’s a piece of Canadian history waiting to be cherished.

Approximate dimensions:

Diameter -4 1/4 inches in diameter at the widest point.

Each jar is inspected and guaranteed free of cracks and rust. Due to their vintage nature, embossing depth may vary slightly.

'Flea bites', tiny chips in the rim, threding, neck or embossing of the jar are considered normal for a vintage jar and may be present as long as they don't hinder the safe use of the jar.

Canning Advice

We don't actually give out canning advice because we're jar experts, not canning experts! You can visit FreshPreserving.comor Bernardin.ca (Fun Fact: Bernardin, Ball, Kerr and Golden Harvest are all owned and manufactured by Newell Brands, their parent company.)

Do you purchase jars or collections??

Sometimes - depending on the size and quality of a collection. Please email us a complete itemized list with plenty of pictures and your asking price.

Jar donations (old and new) are always accepted at our retail store location. Click here for details.

Do you date or value vintage jars or collections?

No, we don't value or date jars, though we do love to see pictures of your collections.  We recommend The Red Book of Jars by Douglas M. Leybourne Jr. for your jar valuation needs. Keep in mind that the collector value and market value can vary wildly.

Are these jars new or used?

Given the age, we have to assume these jars are used. Some have slight signs of aging, small scratches in the surface, etc.
